Completed animation

Overall I am quite happy with how my animation turned out. I am glad I chose to do animation and got my audio from another source as I still had to cut and choose specific parts.

I am really pleased about how well the lip-sync matches up with audio and I feel as though there wasn’t any other way I could make it match up any better other than having spent time I did not have on it.

I feel as though if I had not lost all the data then I could have probably done a lot more animation

I might have also given the backgrounds a bit of animation such as clouds passing overhead. I feel like I would have also made the animation a lot smoother and maybe I could even have added some shading to it instead of it being completely flat.

The reason why I had lost all my data was due to my hard drive that held a good majority of my work on it had fallen. The reason why I did not have a backup of that work was because I could not connect my hard drive to anything other than a mac computer as it was formatted and my personal computer which is a mac laptop did not have sufficient storage for the work I had done.

During this whole project I did have a fair amount of personal issues, mostly relating to my anxiety however with my notes to myself I managed to pull myself out of a good majority of my panics.

How I dealt with this moments was I would stop working and write how I was feeling in a notebook I carry around with me. Once I had calm down I would take an hour break, look at what I wrote and then write another note. The note I write is encouraging and sometimes advice for future me next time I have a panic attack.

The amount of research I did was sufficient for what I did and I felt I would not need anymore.

Now my design choices were heavily influenced by my personal preferences. Certain proportions were inspired by the style of 1920’s animations. The colour was inspired by technicolour shows and my own personal preference of softer colours with the occasional bright contrasting colours. I enjoyed colouring this project the most as well as some of the frames. My favourite frames was of the “thing”, as I like to call it, swam through the ground. It brings me joy every time I watch the animation.

Midpoint evaluation

So far the animation is going well, unfortunately I cannot export what I have currently but I can provide the image files if necessary.

The animation itself is smooth and I am quite pleased with how it is looking so far, I may have to go back to smooth out certain animations however so far so good.

I have lost everything, I have to completely restart my animation so there really is nothing I can talk about anymore.

My animation WAS turning out smooth

I do hope that the data could be retrieved so then I wouldn’t have to redo everything.

I chose to do simplistic backgrounds as they do not need as much work to animate, nearly none in fact. They also do not need as much time to complete compared to more detailed backgrounds.

I chose to tween animate as like with the backgrounds, it takes less time and drawing. However, tweening may not always look as natural as with frame by frame and is in no stretch of the imagination keeping in the style. I would rather this than not completing the animation

The colours I have chosen is mostly soft colours as this keeps with the style, I also really like softer colours with random stronger colours. This personal preference did affect my choice in colours.

In future, I will keep several backups of my work
